Multimedia Installation
Blossom
Blossom is a permanent multimedia art installation incorporating four original cyanotypes and three animated videos displayed on monitors.
With Generations as a theme, I wanted to create a work inspired by gardening, an important hobby shared by my family. Growing up, my mom and I spent a lot of time gardening together and I learned so much about planting, harvesting, and cooking with the fruits, veggies, and herbs we grew. My maternal grandmother passed away when my mom was 13 so I never got to meet her, but I feel connected to her when I am in nature. My grandpa was a bee keeper (amongst many other things when he was still alive), so my mom helped me overcome my fear of bees and learn to care for them and other pollinators. Throughout my life, gardening has been an act of love not only for myself but for generations of wildlife around me.
